REVIEW: Who We Are

Title: Who We Are

Author: Nicola Haken

Genre: M/M Contemporary Romance

Release Date: March 13, 2017

Since putting his life on hold ten years ago, Oliver Clayton doesn’t know who he is anymore. To his clients at the hair salon, he’s the sassy and confident stylist. To the crowds who come to watch his drag act at the club, he’s the fierce and fabulous Miss Tique. He’s popular. Talented. Out, proud, and self-assured.

He’s also a good actor.

Sebastian Day is content with life’s easy, if not a little monotonous, routine. After several failed relationships, he likes the simplicity of being alone in his truck at his job as a heavy goods driver, spending the weekends with his teenage son, and putting the world to rights with his cat, Marv. He’s not lonely. He isn’t hiding.

At least…he doesn’t think he is until he meets the mesmerising stranger with the red hair and purple lips.

Can Oliver and Sebastian help each other embrace who they are? Or will a cruel twist of fate end their journey before it’s even begun?

MY REVIEW

My Fave quote/part: "Put your c*ck away! you've got company!" Benny's voice boomed through my house, followed by the slam of doors...
..Seeing the phone against my ear "Oops my bad"...
I end the call, give Benny the most intense death stare "That could of been the bank, or my mother, or Ty could of been here"
"You could've screamed, claimed it was a home invasion" Benny shrugged and plopped himself down in my armchair...
"A home invasion?"
"Sure, I could pass as a burglar come - to steal your décor ideas"....
Hahahaha... Honestly Benny is so freaking funny, he often had me laughing out loud :)

Ok im gunna start with a warning... this book contains sensitive subjects that some readers may find upsetting, but if your familer with Nicola's writing then you should know that Who We Are is probably gunna make you cry... a lot

I was so scared starting this book, most of Nicola's books have made me an emotional mess which meant I had to proceed with caution and I'm glad I did because damn this book wrecked me... in all the good ways ;)

Oliver and Sebastian are amazing characters, even though they are totally opposites.. they are so right for each other.
Their story IS NOT a fairy tale, they both go through some pretty heavy stuff in this book and it gave me all the feels.

Oliver.. damn I really felt for him, he goes through a lot in this book and its not pretty. He is a fighter and has always done everything alone in life.. its the only way he has known, he would never ask for help.

Then he meets Seb, wow what an instant connection they have and he and Seb are amazing together like totally perfect for each other. Oliver starts to find out what being happy is... ... and then tragedy strikes!!

Oliver is used to fighting everything alone so he is stunned that Seb is willing to stand by him and fight with him every step of the way.

Who We Are has some pretty emotional moments... poor Oliver, he really has had a tough life and I felt so sad for him. Seb is amazing, he has his own struggles but he gave his everything to helping Oliver and... damn together these guys are so perfect for each other <3 <3

The book is not all doom and gloom, I found myself laughing out loud a lot and absolutely love the side characters (Benny is AWESOME) I am hoping and praying that he gets his own book.
Benny and Rhys for sure need a book, they are freaking amazing friends to Oliver and Sebastian and just really great guys.

Who We Are is a freaking amazing, heartbreakingly beautiful 5 star read... that will stay with me for a long time <3
An Absolute Must Read

Nicola Haken lives in Rochdale, England, with her five kids – one of whom is a grown man who many refer to as her husband. She spends her days writing about life, love, and all the beauty and angst that comes with it, and her nights binge watching Netflix or being the household slave. She’s also not very good at referring to herself in the third person, so if you’d like to get to know her your best bet would be to follow her on social media!

Oh, and if the kids ever ask, she moonlights as the Pink Power Ranger while they’re sleeping…
